Moseley Revival Continues at Billersley | ||

Cirtainly doesn't appear to be any mass defection, in fact quite the opposite.
Aparently player negotiations are going very well and just about all those that made the grade at Nat1 look likely to be retained, with the exception of Thomas & Skelding who both had good personal reasons for moving on. It does appear that there are some exciting announcements in the offing - but negotiations need to be completed in confidence so we will just have to be a little more patient. Did hear a rumour that Bees are a bit financially up the creak and that would seem to be confirmed in the local press with comments regarding next years funding - so things might get a bit sticky for them mid year. |

Interesting to hear the latest on the Bees finances.
I suppose if it gets too bad we could go bust, not pay local creditors beg the council for a park to play in etc Or has that already been done? |

Touchy? | ||

A bit touchy there Cratch - is it not a bank holiday where you are?!

Yeah Cratch! | ||

Moody git ain't ya, maybe when you've been amongst the best clubs in the country for 100+ years rather than some fly-by-night advertising vehicle for a crappy recruitment agency (I know, I worked for them!!) someone who cares will listen to you!

Moseley ceased to be amongst the best clubs in the country for 100+ years on 30 January 1998, when the club went into administration. It has yet to regain that status and it seems unlikely that it ever will. Rich, vinyl too went out a decade or so ago. Time not just to change the record but to buy a new music player?

I think if both clubs are in the top 28 in the country, it's fair to say they are amongst the best/better teams in the country. And Jel, I think you'll find that vinyl is still around, mainly because the powers that be were wrong in thinking it was no longer important all those years ago. Replace vinyl by Div 1 - it's not much difference in my view.
Personally, I'm glad to hear that Rotherham are no longer Earth Titans, I'd much rather the original name be the dominant one, rather than being hijacked by the sponsors. |

and perhaps... | ||

...30 January 2008 will be the date Bees go into administration, we've learnt from our mistakes it's a shame Bees haven't been watching. Incidentally will Bees have the fan base to survive if (when?) the money runs out - let's at least hope for the players' sake it's after Christmas this year...

Bickering? | ||
|
I thought we'd stopped all the bickering.........well, until next season
We won't have long to wait - 2nd round of matches sees Bees visit Mose (8th Sept). Believe Bees have Roth at home the first weekend and Plymouth at home the 3rd weekend - an interesting start. |

Newbury's first four home games are Bedford, Doncaster, Cornish Pirates and Rotherham.
Nice confident start to the season then!!! |

My, my Jel, what a very Bees response: Something doesn't work as well as you want so through it out and get a new one - Maynard may have gone but his influence remains!
Moseley's way has always been to develop home grown talent and nuture it for the future with patience. That is why we have both a past and a future of which Birmingham and Solihull can only dream! |

The big announcement from what a certain A A at Moseley told me was that Moseley are to link up with Glos the same as what the Bbees had.
Players like Hooker Ross McMillan Prop Jack Forster Second Rows Will Jmaes and Jon Pendlebury and Backs Brad Davies, John Goodridge Mark Foster and James Bailey will be part of the deal |

Moseley talking to Gloucester shock! Read all about it! seeing as our coach lives there, and played there, Moseley NOT talking to Glos might be news, this isn't.
Given we've also had good deals with Worcester and Bristol in recent years tell me when Smithy stops talking to any of them and I'll be interested. |

Interesting and, if true, I have mixed feelings on the seeming cooling of relations between Glos. and the Bees. On the one hand the three loanees made -I think- a big difference to the Bees in the opening months of the season; on the other hand they were withdrawn well before its end -and also not available for cup matches- causing significant problems. (Having said that, Glos did also lend a hooker when the Bees run into difficulties in this area.) Of course, Moseley may also be able to sign a few Glos. 'prospects' as their own players, as the Bees seemingly did, which certainly appeared beneficial to the Bees. Overall, I think that if I were a Moseley supporter I would regard this as useful threat-of-relegation avoidance move; the early season points benefit providing a cushion for later season deterioration in results.

.....I agree with you Jel!!!
Mind you, if it means Moseley avoid the last day nailbiter of the season just gone, then I'm all for it! |

loanees | ||
|
I for one would only allow ND1 to sign loanees for the whole of the season,otherwise there is a distortion in results(or could be).It also causes difficulties when they are withdrawn at last minute,could cause problems with other members of squad.

Claws retracted... | ||

... and back to serious debate!
Some good points - agree with Thomas Senior that the agreement ought to be for the whole season but I can't see any "big brother" club going for that arrangment for players of any quality. A further concern is that players loaned will be at the convenienece of the prem club rather than to fill genuine gaps in our squad, eg Full back and prop. A useful stop-gap measure during the re building of the club but it can't be in stead of serious long-term signings in key positions. |

long term loanees | ||
|
Leicester allowed Cov to have Ian Nimmo on long term loan(incidently made Brian Dick's WM team of year),so it is possible ,and I can see it happening more often as many players seem disillusioned with Academy or Premiership A games.
