Nottingham lost 6 out of the first 7 games and so were always playing catch up. We only started putting better performances in when most players came back from injury and the loan signings became 'permanent' for the season. We went from the 30th minute at Pirates to the Moseley game conceding only 1 try in 210 minutes, was only the 2nd side to win at Plymouth and put 50 points past Sedgley and Coventry. And before detractors say they were poor opposition (and to some extent they were), how many other teams have won by such high margins (Bees was 55-19 as well).

The main difference between us and a top 6 side was that we kept giving cheap points away and lost several games by the margin we should have won them by. With a much more settled team to begin with, we should hopefully get results which will give us a momentum to win a much higher percentage of games. Otley won 4 out the first 7 games but where then VERY consistant - they lost 21 out of the next 23.

With some of the top 6 from last season losing players in key positions, they too may be inconsistent at the beginning. I'm much more confident about next season as we know what we have got and what they are capable of. If consistent all round team work becomes the norm, all the better. Doncaster finished 3rd last year but didn't get a single player in the dream team. I think at Notts we'd settle for that next season.
