looking at this selection its hard to understand why the cornish pirates didnt walk the league, 5 of 15 dream team members is pretty dominant, what went wrong there.

A lot of re-building was needed at the start of the season. Unfortunately it takes time for a new team to gel.
I think we were also spread too thin at the end of the season. A spate of injuries and extra games that took their toll. At one point we were down to selecting from academy players. I think the backroom boys did a fantastic job keeping the team fit, but there is only so much that can be done with a team playing so hard week in week out. |

In addition to Yog`s comment, we also lost away to both relegated teams and failed to secure a regular supply of bonus points post-Christmas.
It was a heck of a journey last season and I wouldn`t mind betting that the next one will be even better. |

I placed an almost identical post on the Pirates website and got abuse - someone else posts on this board and you get excuses!!!

I think it's also relevant that a couple of the players who have left stated in the local Sunday Independent that they were leaving because of the Club's failure to commit to building a stadium/ meet Prem entry criteria, Gavin Cattle in particular was quoted as saying that his career was more important to him than waiting around to see if Pirates would put the infrastructure in place (I paraphrase). It is hard enough to win ND1 when everyone is 100% committed so since this uncertainty was present throughout the season it's not surprising Pirates ended up where they did. Presumably the same will apply next year or until the RFU confirm a new long term commitment to promotion and relegation which is the only basis on which the Pirates have said they will build a Prem quality stadium.

Well 12-15 million pounds is an awful lot of money to waste if the GP and RFU agree to ring fencing the Premiership. I know I am biased towards the Pirates but I honestly feel that Dicky Evan's strategy is the right one.
As soon as everything becomes clear and if promotion/relegation is retained for the next ten years then I think you will find the Pirates investing in a new stadium. Then, of course, comes the difficult task of winning promotion. |

Llanelli (he's Welsh apparently and that is not meant to be a dig or anything I just didn't know it nor did he sound it particularly when interviewed on local TV).
